Our Story

Hello!

My name is Naomi, and I breed American-Bred Labradors!

Dogs have been in my life since a young child. As a teenager, I showed my dogs in a club called 4H. Then as a young adult, I showed shetland sheepdogs in conformation and obedience. I especially enjoyed the obedience route. When my children arrived, I stopped showing and breeding shelties as I have always been the type to do things 100%. My daughter, Kelsie, followed in my footsteps and trained a collie in 4H. Then my son said he wanted a labrador for his birthday.  I somewhat scoffed at this as I had had bad experiences with hyper labradors. However, I remembered how wonderful raising the collie pup, Cow Girl, was for my daughter and decided to try a labrador puppy. All I can say is that this labrador pup with Marble Mountain breeding, won my heart and I have been hooked ever since.

My son’s lab, Tank, was calm, and I saw such potential in him as a therapy dog.  My daughter and I decided to certify the two dogs, Tank and Cow Girl, with Therapy Dogs International. We went into elementary schools and had them “read” with children who needed more confidence. Again, I was hooked!  I began breeding dogs with the intent of helping others in the service dog world.

From there, I met Gary Garrett, a service dog and hunting dog trainer. He discovered that my dogs were successful in both avenues. He considers me his breeder of choice. Several of my puppies have gone on to help children and adults with autism, medical alerts, PTSD, mobility, and more. He encouraged me to continue training my own dogs for service and several have been very successful with my training as well.

Now that I am retired from 40 years of teaching elementary school children, I am actively showing in obedience, rally, tracking, and scent work.

We live on 5 acres in Wilton, California which is just south of Sacramento. My dogs come from strong hunting lines, but most importantly they are bred to have calm and intelligent demeanors.  My passion is breeding puppies that have the ability to work as service dogs.  This produces puppies that make amazing family members!  I work closely with Gary Garrett from Trained Retrievers.

He trains service and hunting dogs. Several of my puppies have been trained by him and doing famously! This brings me much satisfaction.  I had a judge once ask me if my dogs were from guide dog lines because they are so calm! This pleased me more than winning first place in the event!

I enjoy showing my dogs in obedience, rally, tracking, and scent work. Additionally, I am a Breeder of Merit which means I have pure titles on my dogs and complete extensive health testing. I am also a member of the San Joaquin Dog Training Club and involved with the Training Committee frequently assisting with the puppy classes.
